RocknRolla

So I watched this movie in a theater in Manilla, Philippines. Yes, don't get me started on how much I hated the Philippines enough to where I decided to go watch a movie during a vacation. That's one of my 2 biggest pet peeves when people go on vacation to another country - watch a movie and eat Mc'Donalds. You can do that at home. Don't fly to another country to do it. And you know what? I ate Mc'Donalds, KFC, and Bubba Gump Shrimp in the Philippines. Yup. And no regrets whatsoever.

Anyway, back to the movie. I'm not a fan of Guy Ritchie. Never liked "Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels" nor did I like "Snatch." I think it's mainly due to the heavy British accents in his movies. But this movie was AWESOME! Did I just say the word "awesome" like I'm a high school kid? Yes I did. And you know what... I'll say it again. AWESOME! One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The movie is about a heist that goes wrong. Any movie that involves a heist, guns, sex, drugs, and rock and roll is always a winner in my book. Go see this movie. I may even try to re-watch "Snatch" again after this.

Oh my god, this movie was HORRIBLE. Not quite sure what Brendan Frasier was thinking here. Did he not make enough "Mummy" movies yet? I started to watch this movie while on the plane. It was an on-demand movie with a nice 7" screen, so I was fully prepared to watch a good movie. However, it got to be so bad that I zoned out after 15 minutes. It's the type of movie where you have it playing in the background, but don't really pay attention to it, and when something exciting happens, you look up and go, "Oh what the hell? That's bullshit!" Then you go back to whatever you were doing before (in my case, playing Nintendo DS).

Holy crap, this movie was aweful. Sure, the action sequences were good, but it was a bit too over the top at times. It was like a Jason Stratham movie with Matrix CGI effects... you know, with the slow motion bullets and such. The problem with the movie was that they cast a horrible lead actor. They should have gotten Shia LeBouf from "Transformers." I just didn't believe this guy. And Morgan Freeman...seriously?!? Of course the only reason you should watch the movie is because of Angelina Jolie, and even then, I think her ability to carry a movie has long past. Sorry, I fell asleep through both Tomb Raiders. One of them, 15 minutes in, and I never woke up until the end. Sure enough with this movie, after I fell asleep for the first time, I was so out of it, I kept going in and out of sleep, that by the 1:30 mark, I gave up and didn't even bother to watch the rest of the movie. So horrible.

Wow...this movie reminded me of when I saw "Mission Impossible" in the theaters. I was so confused 15 minutes into the movie that my brain shut off, and I just enjoyed all the action. However, this time, I really didn't enjoy the action that much. It was so cliche with the car chase scene, the chase on foot, the water chase, and even the airplane chase. Heck, where's the train chase scene? Or maybe there was one, but I forgot. I think the problem was that it had been so long since I had seen the first one, and of course you know I fell asleep through it, that I was confused right off the bat. I can't even recall what his dead girlfriend looks like. Maybe if I had rewatched the first one before I went to see this one, I would have understood what was going on. Then again, since I have no recollection of the first one, why would I want to waste another 2 hours on it? Save your $10 people. Wait for the DVD so you can rent them both at the same time.

So the first 15 minutes was HILARIOUS. Then the next hour and a half was just a bad action movie with little laughs. Then it redeemed itself at the end with the credits. If you don't know by now, Tom Cruise makes a cameo in the movie, and honestly, he steals the show. Without him, it'd be just another bad and unfunny Ben Stiller movie. Rent but don't own this one.

Oh man, this movie was NOT funny. I don't think I laughed at any point through the entire movie. I may have smirked a couple of times, but that's it. Steve Carrell really needs to stick to "The Office." The only thing that kept me interested was seeing what coat Anne Hathaway was going to wear next. She was wearing some killer Burberry and Chanel coats. Does this make me gay? I don't care. I'd rather be gay than have to watch this movie. This was worse than a chick flick.

And quite frankly, the movie wasn't that funny nor was it any good. You sorta have to watch it because everyone else has seen it, but trust me, it's not that enjoyable. Clearly, Pixar movies are better than Dreamworks movies.

So I love the annual Will Smith movies. I enjoyed "I am Legend," "ID4," "Bad Boys" 1 and 2, etc. If you were living under a rock 6-9 months ago, then you'll know that this movie is about a superhero who instead of saving people, is a drunk and causes more harm than good. That was the premise of the movie anyway. I don't want to spoil the rest of the movie, but it sure wasn't what I expected. It started out cool and then went on a detour about half way into the movie, and I just wasn't a fan of the 2nd half. It's still worth renting, but I certainly wouldn't own it. Enjoy.

This was one of those movies where as you're watching it, you keep checking your watch to see when it was going to end. Rene Zellweger has gotten too old to be quirky and funny. George Clooney needs to stick to action movies because he's too sarcastic to be in a comedy, if that makes any sense. And the guy from the Office just needs to stick to TV. Even if this movie came on TNT, I'd recommend you chang the channel. That's how bad it was.

So I was a big fan of the TV show and had heard good things about the movie. The movie basically left off where the TV show ended, which was great. That's why I loved the first 15 minutes. And then I loved the last 5 minutes. The 2 HOURS in between, however, were just blah. It was just like watching 4 episodes of the TV show back to back. You know it's bad when you start thinking to yourself, "Man, when is this movie going to end?" Seriously. This show did NOT need to be 2:20 hours long. It should have been 1:45, and it would have made for a better movie because of the shorter length. By the way, that Mr. Big is one smooth cat. And it's great because he has an asshole side of him too. If you're a big fan of the show, then you sorta have to watch the movie. But if you know nothing about the show, you'll definitely want to pass.

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

Seriously? Did I need to waste 2:20 hrs of my life to get back where we started from? The movie could have seriously ended 15 minutes into the movie. But of course they had to make Big break up with her, because that's what he does. And then the whole Steve subplot wasn't that great either. I actually wanted to see more of the 2 gay guys since they were the funniest part of the movie. I should have just watched the first 15 minutes and turned it off.

Yes, this is an actual movie. I don't remember it ever hitting the theaters, so it must have went straight to video. Let's face it. The only reason I watched this was for Hayden Panettiere. That and the male lead was Asian. This movie turned out to be the Asian male's version of "Joy Luck Club" if there's such a thing. I swear it had every Asian male stereotype in the movie. I don't want to ruin this movie, but if you're an Asian male, you have to watch this movie. Oh, did I mention the gorgeous Kelly Hu is in it too?

Oh yeah, and for the people who have seen this movie, I have a shirt almost exactly like the one he wears (silk purple pastel.) So embarrassing. I may have to Ebay the shirt now. Definitely one of the funniest movies in 2008, if not THE funniest. I was even hoping it wasn't an Apatow movie throughout the movie because I didn't want to give him credit for the movie. Kudos goes out to Mila Kunis, the poor man's Vanessa Hudgens, for putting up a good fight with Kristen Bell for the title of "hottest chick in the movie." Definitely worth the ticket price, and you guys know how much I hate paying $9 for a movie.

So I watched this movie at the request of my friend Joy who made me watch it IMMEDIATELY. I asked her if she was willing to stake her reputation on it, and she said yes. And after watching the movie, I have to thank her for recommending such a great movie. I was expecting the movie to be a Chinese movie with subtitles, but it turned out to be an American movie with subtitles (due to all the Chinese spoken throughout the movie). It's funny because I was watching "What Happens in Vegas" earlier in the day, and I forgot to write about how the best thing about the movie was the Asian actress in it, Michelle Krusiec. This is the 2nd time where I've unintentionally watched 2 movies with the same actress in the same day. If you liked "Joy Luck Club," then you'll love this movie. If you're an Asian female, you MUST watch this movie. If you're an Asian male, you MUST watch this movie too. Trust me fellas, you'll thank me afterwards.

I just don't believe Cameron and even a little bit Ashton should be playing these roles. They're like the washed up Keanu/Sandra couple in that letters through time movie. They're just too old to be believable. This should have been played by Kate Hudson and Emile Hirsch or somebody. This movie isn't even worth watching on a plane!

Maybe I was just in a good mood tonight, but I found this movie to be very entertaining. I don't care what IMDB says; this movie was funnier than most of Will Ferrell's recent movies. It wasn't laugh out loud funny; it was more childish funny like "Austin Powers" was. Plus, Jessica Alba shows why she is the hottest woman on the planet in this movie. I was worried about her after "Fantastic Four 2," "The Eye," and that movie with Dane Cook, but she definitely brought back the heat. Justin Timberlake was also funny in the movie. Definitely not worth paying money at the theatre, and probably not worth renting either, but if it's playing on the plane, watch it!

Half-way through the movie, I wanted to take a sleeping pill because the movie was so bad and predictable. Patrick Dempsey is trying to be the next Matt Mac doing all these chick flicks (see "Enchanted"), but he's just not as likeable as Matt Mac is. I hereby beseech McDreamy to stop doing chick flicks until 1) Grey's Anatomy goes off the air or 2) he only does a chick flick every 3rd movie he does.

I had no intention of ever watching this movie since it scored a whopping 5.7 on the IMDB rankings, but Amber Heard was the cover girl of this month's Maxim magazine. She's going to be starring in "Pineapple Express," which sounds like it's going to be a classic already. Let's hope Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen changes my lowly opinion of them. Anyway, Amber didn't disappoint at all in this movie. I think she's going to be the next "it" girl. Surprisingly, the movie was REALLY ENTERTAINING. It was a mix of "Fight Club," "Bloodsport," and "Friday Night Lights." It's about this kid who moves to a new city and high school and finds this undercover mixed martial arts ring. It has every element of the stereotypical high school flick with "the new guy at school," "the popular bad boy," and "the hot girl that both guys fight for." Then there's also the stereotypical "Bloodsport" type flick where.... well, I'm not going to ruin the movie for you. You get the picture!

This was a best picture nominee for the Oscars in 2008. And for the first 2:10 hrs, it was really good. I thought the movie was going to be similar to "Gangs of New York" with lots of fighting, but it turned out to be a story about an oil man's uprising. I'm sure there was a religious metaphor too, but that clearly went over my head. Daniel Day-Lewis gave a REALLY good performance. When I was watching him, I had forgotten who took home Best Actor, but he definitely deserved it. The soundtrack stood out as well. The only gripe I had was that the ending was kind of weird; it just felt rushed and abrupt. Nevertheless, I do recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

I swear it's just a coincidence that one of the lead girls in this movie just so happened to be in 10,000 BC. Granted, that's one of the reasons why I chose to watch this movie over the other movies that I've queued up, but the main reason though was to watch Elisha Cuthbert, who is in my "Top 10 Females of all time" list. Let me just say that the 10,000 BC girl was much hotter in 10,000 BC; she looked very tomboy-ish in this movie, and I'm not a fan. Elisha on the other hand was HOT in the movie. As for the movie itself, it was very weird. It's about a deaf girl that moves in with a family after the parents' death. Then things just get weird and disturbing after that. Very "The Glass House"-esque. Although I stayed awake, I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you only intend to watch it for the 2 girls.

Once again, I have to make the disclaimer that I watched this movie "under the influence," and that's only because I heard the movie sucked. And that was also the reason why I fell asleep. But if I had watched it normally, I think I would have stayed awake the entire time. The movie was very much like "Apocalypto," so if you loved that movie, which I did, then you'll love this one. Not sure what else to say about the movie; just get your popcorn ready and be prepared for nearly 2 hours of CGI animation. Oh, and the actress in it reminded me of an upgraded, younger Lindsay Lohan, so enjoy.

GAWD, I wanted to shoot myself in the face because the movie was so bad! I knew it was a bad sign when I saw that it was a Seth Rogen/Jude Apatow movie. The movie reminded me so much of "Knocked Up" because I started watching that Apatow movie, and it got to be so boring, I literally stopped watching it after 30 minutes. I was wishing I had fallen asleep through this movie, and as you can tell, I'm still so angry at this movie cuz it was JUST NOT FUNNY. Usually I love bank heist movies; there's just something about them that makes the movie interesting enough for me to stay awake through. However, this one was a dud. I don't know if it's because of Jason Stratha, who I loved in the "Transporter" series, or if it was because of the heavily accented English movies (not a fan of these, see "Snatch",) or if the movie was just bad. All I know is that I fell asleep, woke up, rewinded it to the point I fell asleep, then fell asleep 15 minutes after that., and didn't care to know what happened at the end. Needless to say, I'd avoid this movie if I were you.

I had pretty high hopes coming into this movie because of the great trailers a couple of months ago. And at first, it was pretty cool. But by the 4th "rewind," quite frankly, it got pretty annoying seeing the same scenes. Then just as things got boring, it picked up again, and that's when I fell asleep. Yup! Right before the big climatic plot twist. I have a knack for falling asleep at the most crucial points in movies. Anyway, I'll save the rest of the commentary in the spoiler below, and boy do I have a lot of gripes. As for the overall movie... eh, I don't know. It's the typical big Hollywood movie with big names and lots of action. Same ol... same ol... So if you like that kind of stuff, go for it. Else, just pass.

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

Three very big gripes about the movie.

1. How the hell did Forrest's character see the ambulance coming at the girl and make his fat ass all the way down the bridge and in time to save her? Are you kidding me? I don't even think Superman could do that without blasting through the guard fence. Even then, there's gonna be a delay...

2. And seriously, how old is this stupid girl for running across a multilane highway? If she was 5 or 6, I could see that happening, but she looked like she was 10 and she should have known better. Oh, and don't even get me started on the fact how she just STOOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WAITING FOR THE AMBULANCE TO HIT HER. She should be killed just for being that stupid.

3. Oh yeah, let's not forget how this plan must have taken months to plan and now it's all foiled because of a little girl in the middle of the highway. Yeah, let's not forget about the dozens of other little kids that were killed with the bombings. Seriously, if I were the driver of that ambulance, that's a new speed bump on the highway. So stupid.

4. I know I said there were only 3 gripes, but I just thought of a 4th. You know how they knocked the President out by making him smell the chemical in the handkerchief. But how is it that in other movies, the character is knocked out for like HOURS, but yet in this movie, the President wakes up in like 10 minutes? And I can't see the oxygen mask waking him up. And why even wake him up?!?

5. Speaking of which, why the F are you meeting in a public place in the underpass? Seriously?!? No abandoned warehouses were available? No headquarters somewhere outside the city? Your meeting point is under a highway where there are still people running around? And what was their plan with the President? I still don't know what they were going to do with him! Oh man, I could go on and on, but let me go WOOOSAAAAAAAAAAA...

Oh where to even begin with this movie... let's get my 3 major problems with this movie out of the way. 1. The main character should have been Asian. What? Was John Cho not available? Or did the producers think it wouldn't have been commercially successful if the lead character was Asian? Or if you're going to get a white guy to play a role that should have been Asian, could you have at least gotten an actor we've all heard of? 2. I thought the female lead was going to be Elisha Cuthbert, so you can just imagine my disappointment when I saw Kate Bosworth was playing the role. I actually think I was more upset with this than the lead actor being white. 3. You know how annoying those people are that go, "The book was much better than the movie!" Yeah, I hate those people too! But you know what, in this instance, they were right! The book had more of an "Entourage" style theme whereas the movie was made into a love story. So disappointing.

Also, I didn't like Kevin Spacey playing the Mickey role. When I saw Laurence Fishburn's name pop up during the credits, I was actually hoping he would play the role of Mickey. But you know who would have made the best Mickey.... Robin Williams. Yup, "Good Will Hunting" style. I don't care if that would have been cliche; he woulda been money. Heck, even Dustin Hoffman could have played a good Mickey. All in all, the movie was entertaining enough to keep me awake, but if you really want the better story, go Ebay the book.

First off, let's just say I watched this movie "under the influence." With that said, the movie was quite entertaining. It wasn't the typical over-the-top Jack Black movie like "Nacho Libre." I think Mos Def kept him grounded. The movie was about Jack's character being magnetized and accidently deletes all the VHS movies in the video store. Then when someone comes in to try to rent a movie, the 2 guys decide to make their own version of the movie because they couldn't find a copy of the movie on VHS in time. Sounds like a winner, right? My only gripe with the movie was that it wasn't as free-flowing as it should have been. As in, there were some major gaps in the story that made you go, "Huh? How did he know to do that?" All in all, the movie is definitely worth a rental.

I've always liked documentaries. They tend to be very intersting and can usually keep me awake. Well, this movie wasn't a true documentary, but it did teach me some things I didn't know about the 2000 presidential election and the whole Florida recount fiasco. Of course it was very biased to the Democrats, but it was entertaining nevertheless. Funny how so many B-list actors showed up in the movie. Maybe they were trying to make a point or something. Either way, I recommend you watch it...even if you did vote for Bush.

Okay, so this movie was interesting. First off, it's a Spanish movie with English subtitles. Secondly, it's very coincidental that it came out at around the same time as "Cloverfield." So the story is about this TV reporter filming a segment about what firemen do at night. The entire movie is shot through the lens of the cameraman. The firemen get a call around midnight to visit this apartment building, and that's when all hell breaks loose. So I don't know how I feel about this movie. I don't know if I liked it more than "Cloverfield" or less than it. Maybe if I saw this movie first, my opinion would change. Either way, it's still an entertaining movie. This may be the furthest I've gone into a movie before passing out. Anyway, I've always enjoyed Matthew McConaughey movies cuz they are cute chick flicks. See "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days" for instance. However, this movie just didn't float my boat. Maybe it's the fact that Kate Hudson put a little weight on her face but nowhere else on her body. Maybe the plot was just lousy. Maybe it just wasn't that funny. Maybe I'm getting tired of seeing a topless McMac in every move. Either way, the movie was just decent. The best part was seeing the guy from the Cosby show; I always wondered what happened to him, and now I can die in peace knowing he still plays bit parts in stupid chick flicks.

You guys know that I had the LOWEST expectation for this movie, right? Seeing as how Stallone is like 70 years old and the last Rockie movie was really bad, I expected to be asleep within 15 minutes. But you know what, the movie wasn't half-bad. I enjoyed it so much that I actually did start to doze off at around the 50 minute mark, but fought the drowsiness to finish watching the movie. I'm not telling you to go rent this movie tonight or anything, but if you run into it on a plane or Showtime one day, I suggest you sit and watch it. The only thing that surprised me was how gory the movie was. It had been a while since I watched my last Rambo movie, and I must have forgotten how gory they were back in the day. And man, Stallone really should lay off the 'roids and just grow old and decrepit like the rest of us. That man was more ripped than a WWE wrestler. No, I'm serious. He was THAT ripped. Scary!

Alright, first of all, let me tell you that I was watching this movie in 90 degree heat with no AC, so surely, I couldn't fall asleep, right? NOPE! Hayden Christensen is now the new "white man's Tyrese." You guys know Tyrese...the WORSE actor of our generation. Hayden's performance was worse than Seth Rogen, the former "white man's Tyrese." Worse than Vin Diesel. Worse than Tyrese himself....almost! I don't know what happened to him... he wasn't that bad in Star Wars... Then Samuel Jackson was only decent in the movie; not a fan of him with white hair. Rachel Bilson's hotness couldn't distract from Hayden's unemotional one-liners. Diane Lane only appeared for like 5 minutes throughout the movie. Oh man, the movie was so promising too. This is an example of how bad acting can kill a movie.

The only reason I watched it was because it had Demi Moore and Michael Caine in it. Lessons learned from this geriatric Ocean's Two ripoff - 1. Demi Moore can no longer carry a movie by herself and 2. Stop watching Michael Caine movies. Ugh! I feel so disgusted at myself for wasting the last 1:45 hrs of my life.

So this is the modern day version of the "Blair Witch Project," where the movie was shot using a video camera the character holds throughout the movie. Kinda made me nauseous at first, but after a while, you got used to it. So there are quite a number of things I want t say about this movie:
  1. The movie was really short. Maybe 1:10 or so. Funny thing is that when I started the movie, it gave me a total time of 1:25, so the last 15 minutes was all credits. That's almost a 5th of the movie. Terrible!
  2. The girlfriend is very cute. She's like a poor man's Megan Fox.
  3. There should have been more extras in the movie. NYC is a little more populated than what they showed in the movie.

The rest of my points will have to go into the Spoiler Alert section, so make sure you've seen the movie before you read that part. Overall, I wouldn't say the movie was "good," but it was interesting. I've come to start appreciating these weird interesting movies that keep me awake versus the cliche blockbuster movies. I do recommend you see the movie though, if only to be used as a conversation piece at your next happy hour gathering.

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

So let's see.
  1. I'm glad the movie ended the way it did. I actually thought the movie was going to end when the chopper crashed. That's when it SHOULD have ended. I got mad when I realized that they didn't die...
  2. Then again, they should have died in the subway when those monsters attacked them. No way 2 guys and 2 girls are going to be able to fend off a handful of those things, especially since at the beginning of the attack, you see the animals taking out the Marines.
  3. But the ending was good. I'm glad all of them died versus being chopper'ed off the island like it was the Jurassic Park ending.
  4. I had a problem with the main character going back to find his girlfriend. Think about this. They JUST had a big fight after she brought her new boyfriend to his party. That's a slap in the face. If I was him, I'd be like, "I HOPE that thing ate the both of them."
  5. And what's up with everyone following him to find her? I can see the best friend going with him, but the 2 girls should not have gone. Especially the friend of a friend. She shoulda been like, "Peace. I only met you 3 times, and there's no way I'm running TOWARDS the monster to help you find your ex girlfriend."
  6. Funny how the gov't was able to evacuate the MILLIONS of people off Manhattan with just the helicopters when we did nothing during Katrina in New Orleans.
  7. And seriously, there should have been a little more panic and a TON more people running around screaming for their lives. I can't imagine them being all alone in the subway station. Not only after an hour after the initial attack. That's just ludicrous.
  8. And seriously, did the bombs really kill the monster? I think they should have atomic bombed the city to really make sure they killed it.

Cute "chick flick" movie. This movie affirms the fact that Scarlett Johansson is one of the most beautiful women in the world today. She reminds me of Catherine Zeta Jones in Zorro, when during the whole movie, you just said to yourself, "Wow, she's absolutely beautiful." If any other actress had starred in the movie however, I think it would have sucked. For instance, I couldn't picture a Brittany Murphy or Drew Barrymore doing the movie although this is their typical genre. That's about all there is to say about the movie. It's not a movie I would go around recommending people to see, but it was enjoyable enough to keep me awake. One thumb up!

Okay I think it's gotten to the point where we've had just too much Will Ferrell. At least Jim Carrey knew when to call it quits, although I still secretly hate him to this day for quitting comedies. So this movie was only remotely funny. It reminded me very much of "Dodgeball," but not as good. There were at most a handful of funny parts, but that's about it. First off, I'm not a fan of scary movies. I can deal with movies like "Saw," but no "The Grudge" type movies please. But this one had Jessica Alba, THE HOTTEST woman on the planet...or at least 2 years ago, she was. And really, how scary can a movie with JAB be? Honestly, the movie had maybe 2-3 "scary" moments at best. The other 1:36 hours, however, were AWEFUL. Oh man, this movie was bad. Here's the jist - a blind girl gets a cornea transplant and starts seeing creepy stuff. That's all you need to know.

Why is it that there hasn't been a good scary movie since "Friday the 13th" or "Nightmare on Elm Street?" Those movies made me not want to shower for a week or be home alone for a second. Or maybe I just grew up and not scared easily these days. I mean, the last decent scary movies were what...."The Ring" and "The Grudge?" And both movies were Asian remakes, just like this one. Have American writers given up on this genre? It's just sad that 95% of American movies these days are either action, drama, or comedies.

Okay, now let's talk about Jessica. If you had never seen her before and this was the first time you were exposed to her, you'd think she was average AT BEST. Homegirl did not look hot in this movie at all. She just needs to stick to movies that show off her body. I mean, besides the "Dark Angel" series, what is she really known for? She was in "Into the Blue," "Sin City," and "Fantastic Four." What did those 3 movies had in common? She was in a bikini, she was in a sexy cowboy getup, and she wore spandex. I read a year ago that she wanted to do more serious movies so that she wouldn't always be portrayed as a sex symbol? Huh? That's like when MJ went to go play baseball. And we all know how that turned out...

So I skipped working out to watch this movie. It was actually a tougher decision than you'd think. But I've queued up quite a bit of new movies that I do need to plow through. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to stay awake for this one since I started it at 10:30PM, but surprisingly, I was wide awake the whole time. The movie was very gripping. I mean, how can you go wrong with Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, right? The funny thing is that when Scarlett, who is in my Top 5 of all time, was in the same scene as Natalie, who I always thought was cute but not Top 10 worthy, Natalie blew her away. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out why Natalie was hotter than Scarlett in this movie. I was trying to compare jaw structure, facial complexion, fullness of the face, hair, etc, and no one reason stood out. Natalie just simply looked better than Scarlett. It blew my mind.

Enough about Scarlett and Natalie, the movie kept me awake because it was a weird, quirky, morbid movie. It was like "Girl with a Pearl Earring" meets "Wild Things" meets "Hulk" meets "Jerry Springer." The plot was just crazy, and the twists and turns were even crazier. By the end of the movie, I wondered if it was all made up because things got so absurd. Here's the jist - Eric Bana plays the King of England, and when his queen couldn't give him a son, he went seeking out some young pootie tang that could give him a son. That's when Natalie and Scarlett, 2 sisters, fight for his affection. That's all you need to know. Get ready for the rollercoaster ride!

Because I feel that Hollywood is ripping us off by charging us $10 a movie, I did my civic duty and snuck into a 2nd movie. Makes me feel better when I only waste $5 on a snoozer of a movie. I hadn't watched a double feature in quite a while; luckily I remembered to bring a snack during "intermission" if you call it that. What were the chances of me staying awake for 4 hours of movie watching? I thought it was pretty good up until the 1 hour mark. Next thing I know, I straight passed out. There goes my 5 stay-awake movie streak. Back to square 1.

Okay, about the movie. Let me first say that I'm not a big fan of Marvel movies. I distinctly remember falling asleep during X-Men. I fell asleep through all 3 Spiderman movies. The only reason I stayed awake during Fantastic Four was Jessica Alba. Don't even get me started on "Daredevil," "Elektra," and "Catwoman." So I really didn't have high hopes for this movie, but its box office receipts were pretty high, so I did expect a little more out of this movie. And honestly, I don't even know what to write. Seeing Gwyneth in the movie surprised me; I thought she was still on maternity leave. I liked Tony Stark's baller life-style and the Audi R8 he drove as well as the other blatant Audi's in the movie. Other than that, just another ho-hum movie for me. But I guess if you liked the other Marvel movies, then you'll like this one too.

So I haven't been to a movie theater in quite a while, so I decided to see what I've been missing out on. So I showed up 10 minutes late, but the previews were still showing, so it's all good. However, the only good seat that was open was the 3rd row from the front. Ugh. It was like a poor man's IMAX, and you had to look up the entire movie. Even the last time I sat this close, when I was 12 or so, I hated it. I don't know what I was thinking.

Of all the Indiana Jones movies, I loved "Temple of Doom" the most. I watched that one quite a number of times. Plus, all the kids in elementary school asked if I was in the movie. "Okie dokie Doctor Jones." I never saw "Raiders," and "Last Crusade" wasn't bad. This one was a TYPICAL Indiana Jones movie. You know...where 10 bad guys shoot at Indy while he's jumping over boxes, and they all miss him. Usually this would really piss me off, but I just had to smirk because after all, this is typical Indy. Oh, and the only other exception to this rule would be James Bond. Everyone else SHOULD die. I wasn't quite sure what time period this movie was set in. It was definitely no later than the 1970's, but wasn't "Temple" and "Crusade" around that same era? And since Indy has aged like 20 years, I was expecting the setting to be in the 90's at the minimum. That was my only real gripe about the movie. Other than that, the movie was enjoyable and I stayed awake.

This movie had an incredible cast - Kevin Bacon, Brendan Fraser, Andy Garcia, Emile Hirsch, Forest Whitaker, Kelly Hu, and the ageless Sarah Michelle Gellar. You'd think it'd blow you away......but it didn't. It got a 7.7 IMDB rating, but besides the whole "Chinese proverb" gimmick, it's been there, done that. I've seen this type of movie before. It's about 4 characters and how their stories are connected. I can't remember the names of movies that have done this in the past, but I know I've seen something similar. I have to give it credit though; I took down 4 glasses of red wine and expected to pass out, but it kept my interest high. Besides the predictability factor, I felt the movie was a little short. It's still very watchable, but it doesn't live up to the hype. Sorry.

Right off the bat, you see all kinds of Marisa Tomei nakedness. Not that I'm complaining. She may be 43 years old, but she has the body of a 23 year old. Wow! So with that said, let me say that this was a GREAT movie. It's about 2 brothers who try to rob a jewely store and things go awry. The movie is kind of "Memento"-esque where it shows you the ending first and then goes back in time to show you the different vantage points. Philip Seymour Hoffman is truly an incredible actor. Throw in Ethan Hawke and Marisa, and you have a winner. My only gripe is that the ending could have explained things a little further. Even with that flaw, it's still one of the top 10 movies I've seen this year.

I was hesitant in watching this movie because I knew the probability of this movie being bad was really high. But then again, it was a big movie in 2007, "Garfield" wasn't all that bad, and I enjoyed the cartoon growing up, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Immediately, I noticed they casted Jason Lee, aka "Earl," as Dave. This was a bad sign. I've come to realize of late that casting can literally make or break a movie. If it was me, I wouldn't have cast a mustache-less Jason Lee as the character Dave because he's just so well known for being mustach'ed Earl. Then, to make matters worse, they cast his love interest as the girl Claire from "Dawson's Creek." Not that she's bad. It's that she looks like she's in her mid 20's and Jason Lee looks like he's 40. So bad. Thirty minutes into the movie, I realized why I semi-enjoyed "Garfield" -- it was the eye candy that is Jennifer Love Hewitt. I didn't like the talking cat, nor did I like the talking chipmunks. My biggest gripe about the movie - how, in one minute, Jason Lee is scared shitless that there are live chipmunks talking to him, and in the next, he's perfectly fine with it, and even remembers each one by name. You'd think all chipmunks would look alike right? Oh man, all these bad movies of late...hopefully I'll pick a winner next time. Gotta stop taking one for the team with these aweful ones.

The only reason why this movie isn't more popular is the fact that Will Ferrell didn't star in it. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that he turned down the part because it was certainly written for him. Heck, even some of the guest stars are in his circle of friends: Paul Rudd, the fat kid from "Superbad," and etc. I was even thinking Jack Black turned down the part too, but even he made a cameo. You'll know him best as the boyfriend from "Samantha Who." It was just WRONG! It was almost as bad as watching Tyrese on the big screen. I was ready to turn it off at the 30 minute mark, but an action scene came up, and I wanted to see if that could save the movie... NOPE! Even the action scenes were bad. I haven't turned off too many movies in my life, but this one deserved it. When you're HOPING you could fall asleep, but you can't, then that's a bad sign for the movie!

Where to even start with this movie...? First off, I'm declaring this as a female version of "Napolean Dynamite." The movie just has that weird, quirky, alternative vibe with smart quips here and there that reminds me of Napolean. It's almost as if MTV produced the movie. Secondly, the casting was really great in this movie, especially the boyfriend. I don't think anyone could have played the part better. It was made for him. Third, I just watched Ellen Page on the Tonight Show. She's that quirky and random in real life too. Makes me wonder if they rewrote some of the scripts to fit the actors better. Other random thoughts....I don't think the movie deserved best screenplay. It was good and all, but not Oscar caliber worthy. With that said, you should still watch it; definitely an enjoyable 90 minutes!

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

Who else had money on Juno and the husband getting it on? The movie sure made it seem that way, and even Jason Bateman's character was hinting at it. Good for Juno not to fall for it, and still give the baby away to Jennifer Garner. Then again, I don't think she should have even done that. Although that baby will be superbly cared for by Jennifer, can't you just see the kid rebelling against her when he turns 14 cuz he has no father figure? I almost would have rather Juno and the boyfriend kept it...almost! I don't know; I was trying to come up with a good ending for the movie, and couldn't come up with one.

First off, I take back what I said about Rose McGowan. Well, sorta. Brunette Rose in "Planet Terror" = HOT! Blonde Rose in "Death Proof" = typical blonde actress = average. Secondly, this movie has the best thrilling car chase scene I've ever watched. Yes, this includes "Bourne Ultimatum" and the "Transporter" movies. Quentin didn't use all the special effects and explosions like modern movies; he puts his own spin on it, and once you watch the movie, you'll understand. Five minutes into the movie and you instantly know it's a Tarantino movie because you have 4 girls in a car just talking Tarantino-style. It's great. It's almost like "Pulp Fiction" with girls. I don't think this movie is a classic though. If I were to rank the Tarantino movies, it would go "Kill Bill" > "Pulp Fiction" > "From Dusk Till Dawn" > "Death Proof" > "Desperado" > "Reservoir Dogs" > "Jackie Brown." I know I left out a couple others, but these were the biggest ones I think. Although I fell asleep, I really did enjoy this movie.

Throughout the movie, I kept going, "Wow, she's up there with Angelina Jolie. She has the same jaw structure, voluptuous lips, and huge knockers. Too bad she had no career because Manson really did kill her career." Sorry. The truth hurts. Anyway, the movie paid homage to the 1960s zombie flick, right down to the old school camera and film they used. You don't have to be a Robert Rodriguez fan to enjoy the movie, but it makes it all that more enjoyable if you are. The movie was over the top with its fake gore and intentional and unintentional comedy that it kept me awake the entire movie. I sorta recommend this to the average movie go-er. A must if you like RR or Tarantino.

So for the first 30 minutes, I was like "Wow, I love the camera angles and dialogue in this movie." And then I went zzzzzz at the 40 minute mark. Woke up, rewinded it back to the 40 minute mark, watched for another 20 minutes, then zzzzzz again. I guess all that talking eventually bored me. Still loved the camera angles though. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that only starred 2 people. No extras, no nothing. Oh wait, there was the man on TV. That's it! The movie was interesting though. But quite frankly, I don't care enough about the last 26 minutes to find out the ending.

Is there anything cuter than a baby polar bear? I think not. I sorta enjoyed this documentary, but I liked "March of the Penguins" and the "Planet Earth" series better. This documentary followed a baby polar bear and a baby walrus from infancy to motherhood. The one nagging feeling I had while watching the polar bear scenes was that I could have sworn I've seen it already somewhere - probably in the "Planet Earth" series. I felt a little cheated. Other than that, the movie was midly enjoyable.

Oh man, this movie was so bad that I could make so many puns with the title of the movie. For instance, "I Wish Someone Had Killed Me" or "I Know Who Killed Me - Lindsay Lohan." The only reason I played this movie was because I knew it'd put me to sleep. Even Lindsay's stripper scenes weren't that good. Plus, if you ever wanted to scare your 16 year old daughter away from suntanning, have them look at an un-Photoshopped picture of Linday from the shoulders up. UGH! Oh, and let me make this rule for all actresses out there - if you plan on playing a stripper, you HAVE to show some nudity. Else, it's not convincing and you may as well pass on the part. The irony out of all this is that her supporting cast was great. I recognized almost all of them. I'm not sure if Lindsay was just that horrible (most likely) or if the movie was just bad. I woke up at around the 0:57 part, then skipped through to the end to see the ending. Of course when I did, I just rolled my eyes in disbelief.

Wow! Has a romantic comedy ever gone from "This movie is going to be great" to "This movie is going to suck" any quicker? When did this happen you ask? Oh about 5 minutes into the movie. And for the remaining 1:25, I kept asking myself "What went wrong?" I asked that about the movie as well as Mandy Moore. She was so hot back in the day. She was about 10lbs skinner, didn't have the double chin, or the big arms. She's one of the few actresses who can actually articulate herself in an interview. I blame Zach Braff for her downfall! So anyway, back to the movie, I think most of the blame has to go to Robin Williams! He's just not funny anymore. He's just too over the top! He was funny back in the 1990's but not anymore. Then again, he was actually good in "RV," so I don't know. I think the only reason why I stayed awake was trying to guess how much weight Mandy put on. Terrible! I know. Stay away from this movie!

Oh man, for 6 year old little girl movies go, this is by far THE BEST I've watched. Let me first say that this movie had ABSOLUTELY no shot of making me stay awake. I had just fallen asleep during Idol earlier, which I rarely do, and having started this movie so late, seriously, it had no shot in hell. But let me be the first to say - this was the best love story movie since "Perfect Woman." Yeah, I just said that! That's how much I enjoyed the movie.

However, the whole subplot of the movie was wondering if Amy Adams is a younger, hotter Nicole Kidman or a poor man's version. If you base it strictly on the movie, it'd have to be Nicole, but I just saw Amy on SNL in HD last Saturday, and she definitely wins it live in person. The casting in the movie was almost perfect. I was not too thrilled with McDreamy at first, but he eventually grew on me. Every other part was cast perfectly though, even down to Susan Sarandon as the queen. I have one small gripe about the movie which I put down in the spoilers section, so make sure you've watched it before you read it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to all audiences!

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

Okay let me say that I really enjoyed all the plot twists at the end. I even enjoyed when the queen turned into the dragon. However, I didn't like how the dragon died. C'mon, for a queen not to notice the post bending and then NOT FLYING when she was falling...c'mon now. I'll even give you Amy being able to throw the sword to catch McDreamy, but the dragon's death was just too much. I would have rather seen lightning strike the post, the queen dropping McDreamy, and then Amy catching him.

This movie was SO BAD that I forced myself to fall asleep. Maybe I had to be a 12 year old girl to enjoy this movie, but I think any good movie, even movies catering to that audience, should appeal to everyone. Hell, I enjoyed "Legally Blonde." This comedy wasn't funny at all. "The Rock" needs to go back to action movies or wrestling. I don't like this trend of big bad action stars doing kiddy flicks (see Vin Diesel in "The Pacifier.") At least "The Pacifier" was more enjoyable than this garbage. Plus, this really should have been a 90 minute movie. Utterly TERRIBLE!

I think you already know what's going to happen at the end. One of Steve Carell's better performances. And what's up with Dane Cook being in every movie? Do people think he's the 2nd coming of Jim Carrey or something? Terrible! Good movie nevertheless with a lot of star power. I had forgotten how beautiful Juliette Binoche was since the last time I saw her was in "Chocolate."

I'm a big fan of Asian movies. They always have crazy endings, hot chicks, and not afraid to kill off the protaginist. Andy Lau stars in this movie where he plays an undercover cop who is trying to break up a drug ring. Very original huh? Well if this was an American movie, it would have been, but being a HK movie, the ending definitely shocked me. Not as great as "The Departed," another HK based movie, but it's still a must see.

You had better be a Simpsons fan before you watch this movie. The one thing that I like about the Simpsons is that it caters to the ADD crowd. The things that happen in the first 5 minutes of the TV show most likely won't be the plot of the show. And even throughout the other 20 minutes (remember 5 minutes of commercials), there'll be tangents to the plot as well. That's great and all but when you have to endure this for 90 minutes, then your mind starts to wonder and you'll zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Wow, just when I thought I was on a roll with 5 straight movies without sleeping. I made it so far too.... Not that this movie was bad, but it did get slow on me. First of all, I'm not a big British comedy fan. I tried watching "Snatch" but got annoyed with it after 30 minutes and turned it off, and I never got around to watching "The Full Monty." I actually can't remember the last time I watched a British comedy. Does a Jude Law or a Hugh Grant movie count? How about "Notting Hill?" So this movie was about a guy who tries to win back his girl by running a marathon although he's a little fat. The biggest shock came when the credits were rolling and I saw that David Schwimmer directed it and Michael Ian Black wrote the story. No wonder there were so many American actors in this "British" movie. Decent watchable movie nevertheless. You could do a lot worse at Blockbuster.

So I'm a big Will Smith fan ever since "Independence Day" and "Enemy of the State." I'll give him a mulligan for "Bagger Vance." Pun intended. What was disturbing with this movie was not the movie itself but that Will had gray hair in it. I hope this isn't a turning point in his career where he has to do "old man" movie parts now. That'd be a shame. Especially seeing how ripped he was in this movie. As for the movie itself, it's practically an American version of "28 Days Later," where Will is the last man alive in a world where a virus has wiped out almost all the population and turned the remaining into subhumans. Although the movie was 1:40 long, it seemed like it flew right by. I'm guessing that's a good thing, but I felt it was maybe 15 minutes too short. Either way, I enjoyed 95% of the movie. I'm not going to spoil it for you and tell you which 95%, but I think you can put 2 and 2 together. Overall, it was a good movie. I wouldn't have been angry if I had paid to watch this at the theatres...

EDIT - So there is an alternate ending to this movie located here. Ironically, I hate it more than the theatrical version, which at least was believable. I would have hated this one even more! Guess I can't be easily pleased...

Wow! This movie was really really good! I'm a big fan of these vampire movies. This one was a classic that ranks up there with "28 Days Later," "Resident Evil," "Blade," etc. My biggest pet peeve about these types of movies is that the main character (aka big name movie star aka Josh Hotnett) never dies. I wish one of these movies would have the vampires win for a change. The sound editing in this movie is awesome and picture quality (or cinematography if you will) was superb as well. You have to watch this movie in Blueray with a surround sound system. That's the only way to watch it! Oh yeah, if you're not a big fan of gore, buyer beware!

There are some movies that I'm not proud of staying awake through. This would be one of them. Like the other "American Pie" movies, this one starts out strong, but by the 15 minute mark, it's all downhill. The movie was about Stifler's cousin, who is a virgin, who gets a "free pass for the weekend" by his 2 year girlfriend. His 2 friends and him visit another Stifler on a college campus and they run an annual event called the naked mile. I know, sounds riveting huh? I think the only reason why I stayed awake was to see which girl would get naked next. The movie was so bad, but it was so short, that you felt sorry for it and thus finished the movie.

Continuing on with my Oscar related movies, I decided to watch this movie to see if Forest Whitaker was as good as Javier Bardem was in "No Country..." To answer the question, YES he was! I was surprised with the movie though; I thought this was going to be like "Braveheart" but it was more "Hotel Rwanda." This had nothing to with Scotland; it was about a young Scottish doctor moving to Uganda in the 1970's to do some missionary work. While he was there, he was recruited by the president, played by Forest, to be the personal doctor to the president. The movie was really riveting. If you liked "Hotel Rwanda," another movie that I stayed awake through, then you'll like this movie too.

So this was the movie I wanted to watch yesterday. Hmmm where to even begin... so this movie was all computer generated... similar to Shrek but a little more lifelike and without the humor. I thought it was pretty interesting at first, but sure enough, with all the battling and bass sounds, I soon found myself passed out. I woke up 5 minutes later, rewinded the movie, watched another 20 minutes, and then passed out once more. That's when I decided to take a break. It wasn't that the movie was horrible. It just got slow at times. Plus, Anthony Hopkins will literally put you to sleep. Homeboy needs to stick with the cannibalistic villains. Anyway, the only reason that you should watch this is to see the CG version of Angelina Jolie walking around naked. Now I know what I can look forward to when virtual reality goes mainstream in 2020. The movie itself is barely worth a rental though; you've been warned. And hey, at least it was more enjoyable than the 2005 version.

Because I needed to take a nap, I decided to watch this movie. Only as I'm typing this, I found out that I watched the wrong movie!!! Apparenlty there are 2 Beowulf movies. One was made in 2005 which was named 'Beowulf & Grendel' and another one named 'Beowulf' that was made in 2007, which I guess was the bigger movie. What studio head greenlighted the 2007 version? Good gawd!

Anyway, of course I quickly passed out. Not only that, when I did eventually wake up, I just wanted to go back to sleep because this movie was so bad. It was a poor man's "Braveheart," "Gladiator," etc. Actually, I wouldn't even give it that much credit. The movie is the type of movie you'd see on TNT or USA on a Friday night. The only positive thing about the movie was that the actor playing Beowulf was the same guy in 300. It took me a while to figure it out due to his lack of a full beard, but even he couldn't save this terrible excuse of a movie! Stay tuned for my 2nd nap when I watch the 2007 version.

This movie took home the 'Best Picture' Oscar in 2008. I'm usually not a fan of Oscar nominated movies because most of them are too artsy-fartsy for me. With that said, I did enjoy the Coen brothers' "Fargo," and so I was expecting a lot. And boy, was I DISAPPOINTED! The movie was terrible. Although I officially slept twice, it may have been 3-4 times. The movie was so slow and so random at times that the few killing scenes couldn't keep me awake. You know what I hate most about these types of movies -- when the good guy is running away from gun men in open areas and every bullet misses him. Oh man, just terrible! It was so bad, I couldn't wait for the movie to end so I could watch American Idol.

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

And don't get me started of how Brolin's character who is in 75% of the movie gets killed OFFSCREEN! Sure, some say that it was "creative" that they did that, but you know what else is creative? You showing us how the Mexican thugs, who appeared for 15 seconds onscreen, guns down the bad ass who avoided death like 5 times from big bad Javier. And why is it that every Mexican in the movie had a gun? Seriously? And how did the Mexicans even know he had the money? Wouldn't it have been more "creative" if they just had Javier's character just mow everyone down? Plus, we're not even sure what happened with the money. Oh man, just terrible. Seacrest out!

Wow, where to even start with this movie. Well, I watched it to see if Thinh's prediction would come true or not. Boy was he off. Usually, when I'm either really tired or the movie starts off really slow *cough* Good Shepherd *cough*, I'm knocked out by the 15 minute mark. And to make matters worse, this was a German movie with subtitles. So, I fell asleep at the 15 minute mark, woke up at around the 40 minute mark, and then got angry at Thinh for making me watch such a bad movie. As I was about to turn the movie off, I see a beautiful woman reluctantly giving in to being raped by a powerful authority inside his car. Then 5 minutes later, I see his buddy hiring a prostitue with a set of DDD's. So that kept me up for another 20 minutes, and I enjoyed what I was watching during that time. By the 1 hour mark, the movie got to be good, and now I'm curious as to what happened from the 15 minute mark to the 40 minute mark. I then proceeded to rewind the movie, watch the missing scenes, stayed awake the rest of the time, and consequently enjoying the entire movie. So I blame the nap due to lack of sleep versus the movie being bad. I would recommend this movie to all you Schindler's List, Munich, post-WWII movie fans out there.

The movie was about (and excuse my lack of German world history here) the Stassi aka cultural police eavesdropping on its artists, writers, priests, etc. The movie was based in East Germany in 1984, before the wall came down. And if the cultural police found anything you did that tarnished the country, you'd be sent to jail. So the Stassi is eavesdropping on this writer and his actress girlfriend. And that's all you really need to know.

***** SPOILER ALERT *****

My only critique with the movie was that I don't think it provided enough information about the stalker for him to have betrayed his job/country for the writer. He seemed pretty devout to his job for having done the things he did. However, I did love the ending where the writer chose NOT to approach him and get back in the car. If this was an American movie, he woulda ran up to him, gave him a big hug, and gone out for drinks afterwards while the credit rolled. Terrible!

When I started this movie, I thought it had no shot of keeping me awake since I was still partially hung over and tired. Then the credits started rolling and I saw that it was a Farrelly brothers movie, and I love the Farrelly brothers. Have I mentioned that "Dumb & Dumber" is my favorite movie? I loved "Me, Myself, and Irene" too. Oh, and "Something About Mary" is a classic. Ben Stiller was in this one, and I loved him in "Along Came Polly" and the Focker movies (not so much "Dodgeball" though). So the movie had a chance of keeping me awake, and that it did.

So 15 minutes into the movie, I immediately think to myself - this is literally the sequel to Mary. The actress in it is a spitting image of Cameron Diaz with the blonde hair, big wide smile, and the voice sounds exactly the same too. Then you start to wonder why Cameron didn't do this movie. And then by the 30 minute mark, you realize why. The Farrelly brothers are known to be really raunchy with their movies, and this movie was no different. I'm guessing Cameron didn't want to do the nude scenes. Anyhow, so you're thinking the movie is going to be about Ben and Cameron-clone, but it takes a crazy turn. I'm not going to ruin the rest of the movie for you, but if you're a Farrelly brothers fan, then this is a must-see.

No, that's not a typo. This is my 3rd movie where I've fallen asleep at the 52 minute mark. It's uncanny isn't it. Anyhow, I've always enjoyed watching George Clooney going back to the ER days and the Ocean's movies. I even enjoyed "Solaris" and "Syrianna" although I'm pretty sure I fell asleep through them too because I can't recall what happened in either movie. It's not like I don't enjoy the movies or anything. I actually enjoy watching the 2nd half of his movies as much as the first half before I fell asleep. Same situation here. It was an afternoon movie, which like I've said before, tends to keep me awake. And the first 30 minutes of the movie was pretty riveting. I've always liked lawyer movies ("Runaway Jury", "Erin Brock", "My Cousin Vinny," etc), and this one was the stereotypical lawyer movie - big bad company is being sued by innocent people, lawyer goes rogue, lawyer gets moral conscience, big bad company goes down in the end. Oops, did I just spoil the movie for you? C'mon, like you didn't know that already. This movie was just so-so. Oh man was I wrong. This movie was so horribly bad that the gratuitous nude scenes (not Alba) and JAB (my nickname for her) walking around in cute boy shorts and a tight tank top could not prevent me from napping for about 30 minutes. And to further add insult to injury, I fell asleep right after a hot makeout session with JAB. You'd think my arousal would keep me awake, but NOPE! Unfortunately for my roommate, I made him rewind and rewatch my missing 30 minutes. First of all, let me say that I'm not a fan of horror movies. But how scary can a movie with John Cusack and Sam Jackson be (remember "Snakes on a Plane")? I've been a fan of John for a while ("Grosse Pointe Blank" and "Identity"), but he's been making some duds lately ("The Contract" and "Martian Child".) As for Sam, his reputation in "Pulp Fiction" has taken him far enough. I'm getting tired of being disappointed with all his movies like "Snakes on a Plane", "The Man," "Basic," etc. Anyway, the movie started off strong. I actually thought I'd make it through the entire movie, but sure enough, zzzzzzzzz. The movie was about a haunted house writer who visits this haunted hotel room #1408 and that's when the $hit hits the fan. It was such a crazy twisted movie that I'm still in shock of how bad it was. They usually keep me awake over other types of genres. This one was no different. So this is my first movie review. Like most of the movies I've fallen asleep through lately, I fell asleep right at the crucial point of the movie where (SPOILER ALERT! but not really) Marky Mark and Joaquin is about to bust the bad guys. The first 1:37 was pretty bad though. Even Eva Mendes' hotness couldn't save this movie. I don't know what went wrong; the plot was great, it had big name stars, it had plenty of action.... It was just too predictable I guess; like I had seen all this in The Departed already. I think half way into the movie, I told Joe, "This movie's too predictable" and that was that. Plus, where was Marky Mark the badass? He was such a puss and this movie. Oh and lastly, for the guys who are watching this to see Eva's nude scene, it wasn't that great. You see her boob pop out of her dress. That's it. Hell, Kate Winslett's Titanic scene was better than that.

Welcome to my site

So I started this blog because I wanted to warn all my friends about all the bad movies out there in Hollywood right now. Sure, there are thousands of movie review web sites out there, but how many tell you if the movie made them actually fall asleep or not? I'm guessing none hopefully.

Anyhow, I started watching movies when I was back in high school. My buddy Eric and I used to watch every new movie on Fridays after school. The very first movie that I fell asleep in was probably Barbed Wire with Pamela Anderson. Oh man, that was bad. Throughout the years, I consistently fell asleep in more and more movies. That could have been because I got less sleep over the years, but I'm going to blame it on the increasing number of bad movies.

One memorable movie that I fell asleep in was X-Men 2 (or it could have been 1). I was in my early 20's. My friends and I decided to do dinner and a movie on a Friday night after work. I must have zonked out mid way through the movie and had no clue as to what happened after that. That's when I realized going to watch a movie on a Friday night was a bad idea.

Another memorable snoozfest - Tomb Raider 2. My friends and I decided to go watch it on a Sunday night in one of those dollar movie theatres. Fell asleep 15 minutes into the movie and never woke up. Sorry Angelina. Another lesson learned - don't watch movies in dollar theatres. Let's see what else -- all 3 of the LoTR movies (but only for 15 minutes...I hope), the first 2 Harry Potter movies, all 3 Pirates movies, etc etc.

I've gotten to the point in my life where I've practically given up on watching movies at the theatres. Why pay $10 for a nap, you know? Now I get the enjoyment of falling asleep on my couch. That could be a big reason why I keep falling asleep -my couch is too comfortable. I also used to watch movies in pitch dark - verrrry bad idea. I'd zonk out before the 30 minute mark. I read on a forum that if you put a light behind the TV to add some ambient light, then it makes your eyes less drowsy and reduces your chance of falling asleep. I think I got through 1 movie before that idea failed. Let'e see....I've noticed that watching movies in the afternoon is better than watching them at night. However, you don't get the "theatre" darkness in the afternoon, so I try to save the "blockbuster" movies for nighttime and the chick-flicks during the afternoons. Ironically, it's the "blockbuster" movies that are make me fall asleep the most BECAUSE THEY ARE SO BAD. Anyway, this blog isn't about how we can solve my sleeping problem. It's about giving you paragraph reviews of all these horrible movies!
