ACTUALLY STAYED AWAKE

This was a tough one because 1) the movie was at 8pm, 2) the movie is nearly 2:45 hrs long, and 3) I had a glass of wine before the movie.  Except for a couple of very short 1-minute long "eye closures," I was awake for 99% of the movie.  Anyhow, 15 minutes into the movie, and a couple of things immediately popped up in my head - 1) why does Bane sound like a 70 year old British man and 2) I love the Catwoman role, but I don't know if Anne Hathaway was right for the role.  I love Anne, but she's too young for the part.  I would have liked to have seen an older actress (someone like Kate Beckinsale) play the role.  And my only gripe in the movie was how no one died when they were shot at.  It's like c'mon, if you're running 200 yards into a firing squad, more than 5 people out of 1,000 had to have been hit by a bullet.  Besides that, one of the top classic action movies of all time.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3D

Status - STAYED AWAKE

Remind me to be 30 minutes late to the next Spiderman "reboot."  Why?  Because it's the same first 30 minutes every time - wimpy Peter Parker getting picked on at school, goes on a field trip, gets bit by a radioactive spider, and then learning his newfound skills.  Seriously, I'm tired of the same 30 minutes over and over.  Other than that, I thought this version was just eye-candy.  I think the 3D did add to the enjoyment of the movie because if it wasn't for the 3D, I most likely would have fallen asleep.  And I think Emma Stone's stock didn't necessarily fall or rise with this movie (just like Kirsten Dunst's stock didn't necessarily rise or fall with Mary Jane).  All in all, I think I liked the other Spiderman series better (more meat; less eye-candy.)

21 Jump Street

I remember the first part of the movie being actually funny, but then Channing Tatum started to get annoying and then I dozed off.  Highly recommend the first 15 minutes.  You can sleep after that.

You know it's bad when the bloopers at the end of the movie is the funniest part of the movie.  Just because you got every famous actor/actress to star in your movie, it doesn't mean it'll be good.  The movie was so bad that at the 1 hour mark, it felt like it had been 2 hours already since the movie was soooo slow and unfunny.  I should have just stopped the madness and stopped it at that point.

Quick disclaimer - I finished reading the book a week ago.  For the most part, the movie highlighted all the main points of the book.  The book of course gives you what Katniss is thinking the entire time, which you can't really do in a movie.  So if you didn't read the book and only watched the movie, I THINK you would enjoy the movie.  However, the book gives that extra dimension that makes it worth reading.  A couple of things though - when I was reading the book, I just pictured the girl from "Juno" playing the lead.  The girl they got was a little too tall, too healthy for my tastes.  Look, Katniss is supposed to be a starving girl; the actress looked like she just stepped out of a buffet line.  Sorry, it's the truth.  I think I had a couple of other  minor gripes, but can't remember them now.  All in all, the movie is worth a matinee ticket purchase.

Fifteen minutes in, I realized 2 things.  1) Adam Sandler is too old to be making these types of movies and 2) maybe I am too old to find this type of humor funny.  Regardless, I stopped paying attention fifteen minutes in, and eventually turned it off at the 0:45 minute mark.  What a horrible, horrible movie.  This is the type of movie that can be found in the $.99 bin in a couple of years.

IIIIII'm back and now I remember why I started this blog.  It's because I fall asleep through so many movies that I forget if I've watched a movie or not.  A couple of days ago, my friend Will, recommended this movie to me.  So last night, I started playing it, and kept going "Hmmm...I thought I've seen all Ryan Reynolds movies already.  Strange how I haven't watched this one. Especially since it's a 2008 movie."  So 5 minutes in, I was like hmmm this is strangely familiar but also new to me.  I then watched the IMDB trailer, and was like, "Yup, haven't seen this movie yet.  Sweet!"  So sure enough, 45 minutes in, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  I then woke up and asked Francine a pivotal plot turning point and she refused to tell me what happened.  After waking up and falling asleep for the next hour and really only staying awake for the very end, I concluded the movie was enjoyable and wished I had stayed awake.  Today, as I was about to blog about it.  I see this -> http://moviesthatmademesleep.blogspot.com/2009/03/definitely-maybe.html
